Marriages — tiffany at 10:13 pm on Thursday, October 30, 2008

We met Jessica and Erik in Chicago one year ago while we were photographing another wedding. We instantly hit it off and enjoyed hearing how they dated in high school, lived in Boston for seven years, took a cross-country road trip after college, and then got engaged in Sonoma. They both are good-humored and outgoing, as was their wedding party whom were all good friends.

While it may have been the rainiest day of the year in Chicago, their wedding was nothing short of spectacular. Not only were they married in one of the most historical venues in Chicago at the Hotel Intercontinental (I am biased as I got married there in 1996) but their wedding coordinator, Randy Schuster, created a breathtaking ambiance with decor.

After Jessica doned her Lazaro gown and Jimmy Choo heels, they ventured around the historial hotel to take images. Their ceremony and reception were both in the Grand Ballroom, and it is still hard to believe how quickly the room was changed over. The ceremony included candles with sheer fabrics and gold…classicly chic. The reception tied in the colors of Autumn and was…simply grand. Jessica and Erik, along with their guests, danced the night away with the Larry King Orchestra.

Generations — tiffany at 6:17 pm on Thursday, October 30, 2008

Drew happens to be one of our favorite little people.  In fact, my twins are sitting beside me yelling “Wanna see DREW!” as I create this post.  He is either our second cousin or first cousin, once removed.  I can never figure out which it is.

In any case, he belongs to Betsy…our first cousin and best friend.  My expectations weren’t too high after this photo shoot.  Drew isn’t really into sitting still much…go figure!  Besides that he had one huge accident.  In any case, I think they are perfect.

Drew – These images would just tickle your Grandma Caroline!

These two had fun together…I especially love them holding their noses near the cows! I smell a cute holiday card. Thanks always to Traders Point Creamery for letting Nate’s creativity run wild. Enjoy!

Kelli and Sean are so cool and their wedding will be great fun to photograph.  They are planning an eclectic wedding at both the Scottish Rite and Oak Hill Mansion next May.  And…we hear their guests can expect the reception to turn into a Casino.  Sounds fun to us.  Enjoy!

patrice and tony

Marriages — tiffany at 11:32 pm on Monday, October 27, 2008

We met Patrice and Tony this past January at Jen and Brad’s wedding in Chicago. We thought they were a unique couple and loved the idea of their wedding reception being held at a wine bar. Tony is a chef…so we figured food would be an integral part of the affair. They also mentioned a stop at their favorite ‘watering hole’ with their wedding party in between the ceremony and reception. This had fun written all over it.

In order to keep so many weddings straight each year, Nate and I develop a one-sentence description for each. For this we have come up with…Wine Bar wedding with the pig cutting! See…instead of cutting a cake, they cut a pig (ready to eat of course, not alive).

Aside from some of the unique aspects to this wedding, we loved that Patrice wore her grandmother’s veil which was once worn by her mother as well. Tony’s wedding band was her Patrice’s grandfathers when he was alive. So…tradition wrapped up into non-tradition!
