It has been a rare and an extreme honor to have been a Founding Board Member of Wish Upon a Wedding – Indianapolis Chapter. It is a nonprofit organization dedicated to granting weddings for those battling life threatening illnesses. Our foundation was created to celebrate the courage, determination and spirit of these couples by granting their dream wedding wishes.

Since our launch last Spring, with the help of many generous companies and individuals, we have granted weddings to two deserving couples in Indianapolis. It was a profound experience to see these wishes come true.

The purpose of our Blissful Wishes Ball is to raise crucial funding needed to grant wedding wishes for individuals facing terminal illness and other serious life-altering circumstances. Although many aspects of these wedding wishes are donated, there are still many things we cannot afford to cover to make their dream weddings come true.

in honor of BOWEN

There are some things you cannot quite fathom…and on the top of the list is losing a child. Unfortunately, one of our previous brides and grooms, Corrina and Zack, lost their infant son a few months ago unexpectedly. As soon as he was born, Bowen, struggled for life. Corrina and Zach’s enormous strength and positive attitude, coupled with their need to give back, prompted them to start a blood drive in the honor of Bowen.

When we heard of their loss, it filled us with such sadness. So we felt it was absolutely necessary to photograph this initiative for them. We are so proud of their efforts, and hope that everyone continues to see the importance of giving blood.

Big sister, Maeve, was a trooper. We were so excited to observe her HUGE personality.

Congratulations on BREAKING THE BANK! Their efforts made records for the Indiana Blood Center.

500 tribute | INDIANA STATE MUSEUM

For the second year, we were grateful to collaborate with the planning committee for the 500 Tribute at the Indiana State Museum. It was another fantastic event especially given it was a tribute to the Indianapolis 500 on the 100th Anniversary Celebration.

Nate and I come from a long line of bicycling-fanatics. In fact, our father had two major head injuries from bicycling to prove his love for the sport! Nate was a Lance Armstrong fan before it was cool to be one.

So, it was no surprise when we met Erica and Jason a few years ago that we hit it off well. In fact, I am not sure Nate and Jason spoke about anything relative to a wedding. It was chains and gears only.

Considering Jason is the coach and trainer for the ‘Cutters’, Nate was thrilled at the opportunity to photograph this incredible group of cyclists at the Little 500. Like they say, “It is more than a tradition, it is an experience.” Indeed it was this year as they battled sleeting rain and frigid temperatures. Nonetheless, the Cutters pulled away with a big win. As a side note, if you have never seen Breaking Away…rent it.

It is official…the BIG BLUE has updated the Indianapolis skyline in an enormous way. This grand opening, led by Maribeth Smith & Associates, along with Lyle Gene Huddleson of Detail+Design, was nothing short of fabulous. On a short list fabulous included: local artisans and food manufacturers, aerial artists, acrobats on stilts cutting champagne flutes from the ceiling, Alizma (triplet violinists from Poland), branding by KB Designs, and the original-DIVA, Diana Ross.

sixtieth surprise | part three

The surprises kept coming throughout the evening for Bob, including heartfelt toasts, a wheeled-out cake with two bodacious women, and Bob’s favorite band, Here the Come the Mummies, that paraded in from the balcony of the Indiana Roof Ballroom. This band was unbelievably entertaining.

The night ended Playboy-style back at The Conrad for late night snacks. Perfect way to end a perfect night. Congratulations!

sixtieth surprise | part two

The first of many surprises began with Bob’s closest family and friends at The Conrad. Bob figured it was a nice, intimate celebration until ‘Ralph’ walked in with a live television crew to escort him to The Indiana Roof Ballroom where nearly 400 were watching the live feed with excitement.

Without providing all of the details of the evening…there were surprise visits from Bob’s three siblings, a high school friend from Australia, previous colleagues, Marty Brennaman,, Fuzzy Zoeller, and video messages from Peyton Manning, Jeff Saturday, and Ralph Harris. The show included commercial breaks, a live Cleavage Cam, and cigarette girls. The best part of the evening was observing Bob’s genuine reaction to each surprise.

sixtieth surprise | part one

Bob Kevoian’s 60th Birthday Surprise Party was seamlessly choreographed. The theme was a throw-back to the famous 1950s Ralph Edwards program, This is Your Life. In the show, Ralph Edwards would surprise his guests and then proceed to take them through their life in front of an audience including friends and family. Bob’s best friend, acted the part of Ralph, creating the perfect centerpiece for the celebration.

It was amazing to watch a seasoned group of entertainers in action. A team of nearly twenty, led by Casey Scott of Etcetera Events, began planning what included a live television production and multiple parties in a series of locations in one night. The best part of it all…Bob was truly surprised again and again throughout the night.

As Board President, Monica Richard, noted in her address at the launch for the Wish Upon a Wedding Indianapolis Chapter, “We race fast in Indianapolis. Tonight we are not only launching our chapter but we are announcing our first recipients for a wedding.”
